The SR3610 is a very compact bootable external RAID subsystem that supports two SATA 3.0 Gb/s or SATA 1.5 Gb/s HDDs using a USB 2.0 or eSATA or to a Firewire 800 host interface . It supports RAID 0, 1 and Scheduled Backup modes. The configuration of the operating modes is done via the LCD display and the function buttons. The SR3610 can be monitored through the included RAIDGuide software which can also notify you with an email when there are problems.

The RAIDGuide software, which runs on Windows, enables you to monitor the RAID subsystem via RS232 interface. The RAIDGuide software is also send an email notification or play a wav or midi file to indicate HDD or system errors. The SR3610 announces these errors even on the LCD panel and by a mutable acoustic alarm. Hard disks which have been written can be read in an i302 case.

In RAID 0 operating mode the data is written/read in stripes alternately on both drives. This sums the disk volumes and increases the speed of these operations. Warning! If one of the drives fails ALL data is lost. The RAID 1 operating mode mirrors all data simultaneously and identically on both disks in real-time. The total capacity then is limited to the smaller one of both disks. If one disk fails the other one takes over and all data is kept safe. If a virus or human error destroys a file this file is lost because all changes take place on both disks. You are encouraged to perform scheduled backups of hard drive images and important files to so that they can be recovered instantly should they need arise. You may also consider getting a 3rd tray and drive to store offsite.
